Yesterday’s commemoration of the 500th anniversary of the Reformation between Lutherans and Catholics in Lund, Sweden was an historic event! With dignitaries from around the world under the theme of “From Conflict to Communion….Together in Hope” we have an opportunity to move forward doing God’s work together both globally and locally. If you missed it or would just like to watch again, here is a link to the video on YouTube.
If your Lutheran congregation wants to explore how you might study, commemorate the Reformation, and partner in mission and ministry with your Catholic neighbors….or vice versa….we have recently published several resources to assist you.
First, co-published with the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops and the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America is Declaration on the Way: Church, Ministry and Eucharist.
Second, co-published between Augsburg Fortress and Liturgical Press and written by a team of three Catholic writers and theologians and three Lutheran writers and theologians specifically for congregational use, is One Hope: Re-Membering the Body of Christ.
And, if you are interested in exploring not just Lutheran and Catholic relationships and ministry partnerships, Honoring our Neighbor’s Faith, Revised Edition is a superb resource for reference or study.
No time like the 500th anniversary to start anew with building relationships and partnering to serve God’s people in the world!
