Free Holy Week videos for kids

March 25th, 2013 by Beth A. Lewis

Yesterday, my husband and I had the pleasure of worshiping with our daughter & granddaughters, ages 10 & 6 at Desert Streams Lutheran Church in Surprise, AZ.  It was great to see children & youth so engaged in the worship service; waving palms as we entreed the worship space, portraying the last supper as Pastor Kevin Ruffcorn said the words of institution, in the music group that played throughout worship (including a 7-year-old drummer!), and with the little children joining in with shakers, rattles and other musical instruments.  Since Pastor Kevin wove stories of parades into his sermon about Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem, these festive noisemakers were a lovely way to incorporate the children into the message.

After  worship, our family went out for a bite to eat and conversation about Palm Sunday.  I shared the link to the Holy Moly! sample video for Palm Sunday with our granddaughters to help them visualize this important day.

I’m looking forward to sharing the Holy Moly! Maundy Thursday sample video and the Holy Moly! Good Friday sample video with them later this week.

How are you passing on our faith to the children in your life?  Whether your kids and grandkids or the children in your church?  If you haven’t yet discovered the Holy Moly! Sunday School curricula that provides video clips for usage throughout the year, I encourage you to try out these samples!  At approximately 5 minutes long each, they are short enough to capture the attention of young children, but long enough to tell important Bible stories and evoke conversation.

Wishing you a blessed Holy Week and Easter,

Beth
