Augsburg Fortress’s Got Talent!

June 27th, 2012 by Beth A. Lewis

Well, of course, I’ve known that AF has talented staff and creative partners for a long time!  But, now it has been affirmed via popular media!

Sand artist Joe Castillo, has been working for some time with major corporations, the king of Saudi Arabia, and hospital foundations, as well as with synod assemblies and individual congregations.  Now Joe can also be seen on the NBC television show America’s Got Talent.  His audition performance is on YouTube!

After two rounds of competition, Joe is one of 48 finalists who will perform during live broadcasts sometime in July.

But, what does America’s Got Talent have to do with Augsburg Fortress?

The connection is that Joe created 16 videos for each course in The Greatest Story series: Bible Introduction, Jesus, and Paul.  There are two versions of each of these curricula.  One is a Lutheran Study Bible version with specific references to content and pages in the LSB. (You might also want to note that the Deluxe version of LSB is 25% off between now and the end of June!)  The other is a multi-denominational version that may be used across denominations and with whichever Bible translation is selected by the facilitator and learners.

The Greatest Story: Paul will be published on July 4.  A couple of years ago, my husband and I led a study tour group, the Journeys of the Apostle Paul, to Greece, Turkey and Italy.  I wish this terrific resource had been available for small group or congregational study prior to that trip!  Whether you are thinking of an international sojourn following in Paul’s footsteps or just interested in learning more about his life, ministries and writings, this resource will help you and is definitely added by the sandart created by Joe Castillo.

Samples of Joe’s amazing sandart and the print learner and leader guides for these Greatest Story resources are available on the Augsburg Fortress website.  If you need assistance with finding the samples, ordering the right resource, etc. please don’t hesitate to Augsburg Fortress Congregational Resource Representative for your congregation or call our Customer Care team at 800-328-4648.

Congratulations, Joe!  We’ll look forward to seeing your next America’s Got Talent performance!

Blessings,
Beth
