One Mission Blog - reflections on the ministry of publishing

First stormy seas and now a whale…in Iowa!

October 16th, 2011 by Beth A. Lewis

In February, I wrote a blog post about the creative work in children's faith formation happening at Trinity Lutheran Church in Mason City, IA.  Using Spark Sunday School  as their resource, they created a boat in which the children listened to "The Storm" from the Spark Story Bible.

Having been on sabbatical and out of the country for the past month (more on that in a future blog post), I am in my office trying to do some catch up on Sunday afternoon after worship at my home congregation.  But, I am delighted to stop my Board meeting prep work for just a few minutes to share the great photos I just received from Trinity's Director of Christian Education, Marty Greder.  This time the children are listening to "Jonah & the Big Fish" from the Spark Story Bible….while sitting inside their very own whale!

I love it!  Thanks so much for thinking of us, Marty!

In her note, Marty went on to say, "We are big fans of the Spark curriculum and the Spark Bible.  It's so easy to come up with little extras like the whale to go along with the stories.  In the winter, we're going to do the burning bush and I'm already pondering that one…….."

I can't wait to see those photos!

Thank you for using Spark and, especially, for sharing Trinity's creativity with us and the CE directors who read my blog!
