Francisco Ayala wins Templeton Prize

March 26th, 2010 by Beth A. Lewis

Congratulations from all of us at Fortress Press and Augsburg Fortress to our author, Francisco Ayala, winner of the Templeton Prize in Religion! We are delighted by this recognition and honored to publish work by this distinguished scholar, geneticist, and theologian who teaches at the University of California-Irvine.

There’s am excellent story in today’s Los Angeles Times..

Professor Ayala’s impressive credentials may be seen on his University of California faculty profile.

Alongside his important scientific work in genetics, molecular biology and evolutionary theory, Ayala has been a leading contributor to the religion-science field for many years, especially in formulating guidelines for the National Academy of Sciences for dealing with Creationism and Intelligent Design. He has been influential in formulating the Vatican documents on these issues.

Among his best and most accessible works is his contribution to the Fortress Press Facets series, Darwin and Intelligent Design.

Congratulations, Dr. Ayala! We are honored to be your publishing partner.

Blessings,
Beth
